Two Romanian gymnasts are in the finals of the all round events at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships under way in Liverpool. Ana Maria Bărbosu will be in action on Thursday, having qualified from the 23rd place, with her best score in parallel bars. She failed, however to qualify for any of the apparatus finals. Her highest place was in the floor event, where she ranked 19th. The second Romanian gymnast in the all-round finals is Gabriel Burtănete, in the men's competition, who qualified from the 23rd position. Răzvan Marc missed the finals as he ranked 48th. In the men's team competition, Romania ranked 19th. The teams that made it to the final were Japan, the UK, the US, China, Italy, Spain, Brazil and South Korea.
Gabriel Burtănete will compete in the men's all round on Friday. On Sunday, he will compete in the vault and has a chance to win a medal. He got the third best average in the qualifying round, namely 14.633. His first try scored 14.800 and his second 14.466. The only two gymnasts to do better than him were the Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist and 2019 European champion Artur Davtyan from Armenia and last year's world champion Carlos Yulo from the Philippines. Aged 20, Gabriel Burtănete three years ago won the junior world championship title in Győr, Hungary.
