Preparations for New Year’s Eve

preparations for new year’s eve Very little time is left until we enter 2018, so preparations for the New Year’s Eve Party are in full swing.

According to a survey conducted by Mednet Marketing Research Centre, 79% of Romanians intend to celebrate the coming of the new year in their own country, and only 3.6% will go abroad. Out of those who decided to stay, three quarters will spend New Year's Eve together with friends and family, in their own or friends' homes. 11% have chosen resorts, and 9% will party in a club or a restaurant. Also, 3.6% of Romanians will welcome the new year outdoors, in public squares.

An analysis made by an online hospitality platform shows that the city of Brasov, in central Romania, is the favourite destination for those who choose to celebrate New Year in their country. Also, mountain resorts in the Prahova Valley, such as Predeal, Sinaia and Busteni, are top of the list of preferred destinations. It has been snowing in the past days up in the mountains, so the slopes are perfect for skiing.

Thousands of club, bar and restaurant employees are working hard these days to prepare the big New Year's Eve party, as they are expecting many guests, something also seen at Christmas. According to a survey conducted by the Romanian Tourism Employer's Associations Federation, more than 78,000 Romanian tourists spent 15 million Euros during the Christmas holidays. On the other hand, the Romanians who have decided to welcome the coming of the new year abroad, have opted for Vienna, Bansko or Prague. Other favourite destinations are Paris, Rome and Budapest.

Bucharest and other cities across the country will host mega-parties staged by municipalities. Organisers are busy mounting the stages where artists will perform on the big night. Traffic restrictions are already in place in the capital in preparation for the New Year's Eve Party 2018, which will take place in the George Enescu square. Organisers have promised six hours of live music, performed by dozens of top artists, a dynamic and spectacular show, which will also include dance performances, light effects and the glamour typical of a Broadway show. The stage design of the show was inspired by a jukebox, which plays one hit after another.

And since many people will party in the street, the main concern for authorities is security, which is why a large number of police officers and gendarmes and fire-fighters will be on duty throughout the events.
